“Albania, open for
investments”
From October 6th to 9th 2006 in the
International Centre of Culture “Pjeter Arbnori” was inaugurated the
fair called “Albania, open for investments” with the support of the
prime minister of Albania
The participation of various
prefectures and municipalities of Albania, and also of many
companies working in different fields, showed a wide variety of
interests in the field of investments, some of which involved urban
planning, environmental projects, tourism development, construction
projects, etc.
The opening speech was delivered by the Minister of Economy, Mr.
Genc Ruli, accompanied by other members of the government.

One of these projects was the
promotion of the Tumulus of Kamenica from the archaeological,
architectural, and historical point of view. This was part of the
Prefecture of Korça pavilion. The Regional Government and the
Municipality of Mollaj took responsability of the site, identifying
it as an important component for the sustainable development of the
local community.

These institutions, together with
scholars and administrators of the cultural heritage, have a common
goal: to conserve and present the Kamenica Tumulus following modern
standards. The aim is to make the tumulus a visitable site with a
proper museum, which with its unique profile will inform visitors on
the spectacular components of the tumuli culture of prehistoric
Albania.
The promotion of the Kamenica Tumulus Project was visited with
interest by more than a hundred and fifty visitors, Albanians and
foreigners, of different cultural backgrounds and age groups, who
were informed not only through posters and slide show pictures, but
also by a plastic model of Kamenica which represent a real view of
the tumulus.

The project was assisted by the mayor
of the Municipality of Mollaj, Mr. Fredi Xhemo, members of the
Prefecture of Korça, the Director of the Museum of Archaeology in
Korça, Prof.Dr. Skënder Aliu, the directors of the ARAU, Dr. Lorenc
Bejko, Maria Grazia Amore and ARAU personnel (Valbona Hysa, Klodiana
Kondo, and Genti Perzhita).
