“Palaeochristian iconography of the metal objects: the case of Pece lamp”

On May 12, 2006 in the library of ICAA took place the meeting of the Group for Archaeological Debate (GDA).
The topic of this meeting was “The lamp of Peces”, and it was delivered by Luan Përzhita from the Department of late Antiquity in the IoA.

Përzhita analysed a metallic object traditionally considered a lamp, found in the township of Peces in North Albania. Përzhita analysed in detail this piece, which has eight religious figures carved on it, and proposed also a new interpretation of its function.

The seminar was attended by approximately 20 people, members of ICAA, IoA and University of Tirana.
