In the sixth meeting of the GDA
Seminar Series for this season, Elis Grizhja presented the topic
“Epigraphy, and it’s role in archaeology.” As usually the Seminar
took place in the library of ICAA. It was attended by different
members of the Albanian Archaeology community.

Grizhja made his presentation based on
the lectures attended at the University of Istanbul. At the
beginning he explained the meaning of epigraphy, and then proceeded
with his presentation illustrating the different kinds of epigraphic
evidence available from the Greek and Roman world.

He classified the ancient writing in
two main groups 1. Official 2. Private, and elaborated further on
these two groups.

The Seminar was followed by the
traditional post-seminar meeting, where everyone had the possibility
to interact in a more informal way.
